Video Reflection:

How did it impact you as a teacher and what do you need from this workshop to do that?
I think using technology like Wikispaces and Moodle to create spaces for classes online provides a meaningful way for teachers to connect with students outside of the classroom. It is important for teachers to know how to access and use technology for the enhancement of student learning since students are so much more adept at communicating through this type of media. I already have a general idea of how to use Wikispace but would like to see other ideas for what types of content to include on my page.

Asking Questions:

Feel free to add questions here or ask them directly of Vivian or Cara

Taking Notes:

Use this space to record your notes, observations, and ideas from the day's workshop. Format them in the manner you prefer. Note that you can use auto numbering, bulleted lists, and insert a horizontal line as a divider. Or if you prefer, you can insert a table and take your notes there.

  • this is a good way to include all learners in the classroom
  • benefits students in another language with online interaction
  • willing to share more through writing vs speaking aloud (reluctant speakers)
  • unit questions would be good to post here for discussion
  • it's important to set limits and protocols for discussions to eliminate cyber-bullying
  • use the IB learner profile to help set up inquiry
  • use online newspapers to compare/contrast point of views america vs france
  • have students post language questions online and have them/you post links that have answers (offer extra credit?)
  • write for BesBuy grant?
  • how do you find classroom teachers willing to interact with you?

Rewriting Your Lesson/Unit:

We can't tell you the format to use when writing, but we can provide you with the opportunity, time and resources to begin that work. Likewise, feel free to use this space if you like.

Create a Rational for Integrating Technology

As a teacher and a learner, it is important to create a statement that explains why you are making this change to your teaching/learning approach. We have created a tool to facilitate this process. If you prefer to write your rational as a statement in paragraph or bulleted list format, feel free. In the workshop we will provide a paper copy to write, but the file is attached here as well as a resource.
